SOG SlimJim and BladeLight at SHOT Show – New SOG Knives!

SOG had some of my favorite gear at SHOT Show 2012.  I think there are a lot of people out there who don’t realize that there is still new technology going into making knives.  It may be an old tool, but it’s usefulness has never diminished.

SOG makes some of the best specialty knives in the world.  Not only are they incredibly strong and sharp, but they’re also very innovative and have intuitive features that you don’t see on other knives.

In the SOG SHOT Show Video Interview Chris Cashbaugh from SOG takes our Trevor Bending through some of their new products.  First up is the SOG SlimJim.  With ‘Slim’ in it’s name, you know this is a really compact knife.  Watching the video, I was amazed at how thin the knife is.  As Chris says, you probably can’t get a useful knife any thinner than this.  It’s really impressive.  And they have assisted open, so the blade pops out and locks in place quickly and easily.  Very cool stuff.  You should have no trouble slipping one of these in your pocket or backpack when you go hunting.

The other new SOG knife at SHOT Show is the BladeLight.  I wrote about it in our SHOT Show Day 2 Recap before, but I only had a photo at that point.  No you can see this great light in action!  So what makes the SOG BladeLight so great?  It has two LED lights built into the handle.  One light is on each side of the blade.  This is awesome because it means the blade won’t cast a shadow when you’re trying to cut something.  This is going to be super useful on camping and hunting trips.  Very cool stuff indeed.  Check out this SOG SHOT Show Video and keep checking back with GearExpert for more SHOT Show news!
